Viva Magenta-Animated Mixed Media Illustration

viva magenta animated mixed media artwork 3 figures positioned within dynamic circles denim textures and watercolor

Viva Magenta is a personal project exploring the energy and symbolism of the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year. The animated GIF features three figures dressed in denim. They are positioned within a dynamic, circular composition that evokes movement and rhythm.   The artwork was created using a mixed-media process that combines traditional and digital elements. I used hand-painted watercolor textures, scanned denim fabrics and digital manipulation in Photoshop to bring everything together. The blending of techniques allows me to maintain the organic feel of watercolor while exploring the precision and layering possibilities that digital tools offer.   Conceptually, Viva Magenta celebrates strength, diversity, and optimism — qualities often symbolized by color itself. The denim also plays a key role here: it’s a universal material, adaptable and timeless. By merging it with watercolor and digital textures, I wanted to express how different mediums  different identities  can coexist and enhance each other within one visual world.   To explore Viva Magenta color of the year visit the official site of Pantone   For more of my work visit my portfolio.

Artwork Sharks – Animated Mixed Media Illustration

artwork sharks animated mixed media illustration by monica lindinspired by the song sharks by imagine dragons

Artwork Sharks is a personal project inspired by the song “Sharks” by Imagine Dragons. The lyric “Better put your head on a swivel in rocky waters” resonated with me. It evokes a sense of alertness and awareness, the instinct to stay poised and observant in an unpredictable world. I wanted to translate that energy into a visual narrative that feels both futuristic and introspective. The scene takes place in a surreal cityscape composed of tall, mirrored structures that reflect the sky and distort perception. In the foreground, two women stand within a luminous, reflective environment. One facing forward, one turned away. Their mirrored positions suggest duality: self and reflection, reality and illusion, calm and vigilance. The repeated motion in the animation enhances this sense of awareness, as if both figures are quietly scanning their surroundings, attuned to unseen movements around them.   Visually, the artwork Sharks combines graphite elements, watercolor textures and digital processes in Photoshop.  The reflective floor adds an almost cinematic depth, pulling the viewer into this quiet yet tense world.   Conceptually, Sharks explores the fine line between beauty and caution. How we navigate emotional or social “waters” that may appear calm on the surface yet conceal underlying motion and uncertainty. The two characters embody different emotional states: one forward-looking and self-assured, the other introspective and aware of what lies behind. This piece continues my ongoing exploration of mixing analog textures with digital composition to evoke emotion and rhythm. The motion in the GIF adds a living dimension to the stillness, reinforcing the song’s central message — staying aware, adaptable and centered even when the waters shift beneath you.

Goodbye Summer, Welcome Fall – Fashion Inspired Illustration

goodbye summer welcome fall fashion illustration of a woman with patterned autumn dress falling leaves and mirror reflections mixed media using watercolor and digital collage.

Goodbye Summer, Welcome Fall is a personal artwork that reflects both the emotional and visual transition between seasons — from the carefree brightness of summer to the textured, layered warmth of autumn. The piece captures that familiar moment of change: returning to the rhythm of work and creativity, with a touch of nostalgia for long summer days. Anchored in the language of fashion illustration, the central figure wears a structured dress in rich autumn tones, paired with high boots. Her confident yet reflective stance mirrors the duality of fashion itself. Elegance meeting emotion, style meeting story. The composition explores transformation, identity and time passing. Surrounding her, floating reflections and silhouettes evoke memories. Fragments of summer’s freedom suspended in air. The shifting palette of ochre, lavender, and sky blue moves the viewer gently into the colder season, blending sentiment with visual rhythm. Goodbye Summer, Welcome Fall is a mix of traditional watercolor swatches and digital collage in Photoshop. The illustration combines tactile, handmade depth with modern precision. It’s a celebration of renewal — an intersection of art, mood and style that reminds us how change can be both wistful and inspiring. For more visit my portfolio.

Cyber Vacation – Exploring the Future of Escapism

cyber vacation animated grid landscape with a glowing white portal on the floor symbolizing vacationing in a digital or cyber world mixed media artwork created with watercolor and Photoshop.

Cyber Vacation is a personal artwork that imagines a new kind of landscape. One that exists entirely within a digital realm. The piece envisions the idea of “vacationing in a cyber world,” where people might one day seek rest, play, or inspiration inside virtual environments instead of nature. Could this be our future?   The illustration explores this question through a striking visual language of geometry and emptiness. A glowing grid forms a digital horizon, symbolizing both limitless possibility and quiet isolation. The white circle at its center suggests a portal. An entry point to another dimension, inviting viewers to step into the unknown. Despite its futuristic atmosphere, Cyber Vacation retains a tactile sensitivity. It’s created with a mix of traditional watercolor textures and digital manipulation in Photoshop, bringing warmth and human touch to a cyber-inspired space. This contrast between analog and digital materials mirrors the tension between the physical and virtual worlds we increasingly inhabit.   Through color, motion and composition, the artwork invites reflection on how technology reshapes our perception of reality, leisure and connection. It’s both a question and a vision — poetic, slightly surreal and deeply contemporary.

Very Peri – Inspired by the Pantone’s Color of the Year

very peri fashion illustration of woman in blue violet jumpsuit by monica lind

Very Peri, a personal artwork that was created as an exploration of color, mood and fashion illustration. It depicts a woman wearing a sleek, futuristic jumpsuit surrounded by reflective surfaces and dreamlike shapes.   The Very Peri fashion illustration draws inspiration from Pantone’s color of the year, Very Peri.  A vibrant blue-violet tone visual symbolizing creativity, courage and transformation. I wanted to capture the feeling of confidence and imagination that this color evokes by placing the character in an abstract environment where light, reflection and texture merge.   Although this was an experimental piece, it helped me refine my approach to combining fashion details with  a more conceptual setting . A space between imagination and reality.   To see more visit my portfolio🙂   Pantone Color of the Year Very Peri

monica lind art exhibition at nlocal gallery nyköping sweden

Monica Lind Art Exhibition. I had the immense pleasure of presenting my solo exhibition at Gallery NloKal in Nyköping, Sweden. This creative hub that celebrates both local and international artists. The exhibition featured 33 original illustration works, including many of my animal and nature-inspired pieces, along with other creations shown for the first time.   Although it took place during the Covid period, the event became a warm and uplifting gathering. Visitors still came and together we shared a meaningful moment surrounded by art, conversation and connection. It was a reminder of how deeply art unites people, even in challenging times.   Each illustration in this collection reflects my continuing exploration of the natural world and our relationship to it. The animals, symbols and small moments I draw express stories of empathy, unity and wonder. Seeing all 33 works together on the gallery walls gave me a sense of reflection and gratitude for my creative journey so far.   A heartfelt thank you to Nettan, the owner of Gallery NloKal and a talented artist herself. Her warmth, generosity and enthusiasm made the entire experience unforgettable. I’m deeply grateful for her support and for the opportunity to share my work with the Nyköping art community. Artwork commissioned by «Luxiders»

luxiders magazine art commission portrait of fathima asghar by monica lind

Luxiders magazine art commission. I had the honor of being commissioned, by Luxiders magazine, the creations of 2 portraits of two inspiring writers: Fathima Asghar (poet, director and screenwriter) and Safia Elhillo (poet and writer). Luxiders, a magazine dedicated to sustainable culture, has long been a publication I admire. So clearly this project made it especially meaningful.   The commission challenged me to capture the unique personality and presence of each subject in a single illustration. While only Fathima Asghar’s portrait was published in the magazine, both illustrations remain unquestionably significant pieces in my artistic portfolio.   Through  Luxiders magazine art commission, I aimed to strike a balance between realism and artistic expression. Each portrait highlights not just the likeness of the writers, but the energy and voice they bring to their work. In that way celebrating their creativity and impact. Working with Luxiders was indeed inspiring. Their focus on sustainability and thoughtful storytelling aligns closely with my own values as an artist. This commission remains a highlight of my professional illustration career, even years later. The published portrait of Fathima Asghar appeared in the issue 06  2021 of Luxiders magazine. You can explore more about the magazine and its dedication to sustainable culture at Luxiders official website.   This commission reminded me how illustration can amplify creative voices and bring stories to a wider audience. Every project like this reinforces my belief that art is above all a powerful tool for connection, understanding and cultural celebration.   To visit my portfolio click here!

Custom Portrait Commission – Personalized Illustration as a Birthday Gift

custom portrait commission illustration by monica lind

Custom portrait commission I recently had the pleasure of completing a custom portrait commission for a private client. The client requested a personalized portrait as a birthday gift. They also wanted it to include meaningful symbols that reflect the recipient’s personality and interests.   Creating private commissions like this is one of the aspects of illustration I enjoy most. Each project offers a unique challenge. For example, translating personal stories and symbolic elements into a visual form requires careful attention. Therefore, I work closely with clients to ensure the artwork resonates deeply with its intended recipient.   For this particular commission, I focused on blending subtle personal details with my signature illustration style. As a result, the piece is both expressive and elegant. The artwork was printed on high-quality fine art paper. It was then delivered in a protective tube, ready to be framed or displayed.   Private commissions are incredibly rewarding because they allow me to connect with individual stories. Additionally, each custom portrait becomes a meaningful keepsake that celebrates both the recipient and the thoughtfulness of the gift-giver. I love bringing these personal visions to life. Whether it’s a birthday gift, an anniversary surprise, or a one-of-a-kind family portrait, every project is special.   If you’re interested in a custom portrait commission, I take pride in making each illustration a beautiful and memorable experience. I ensure it is tailored to your story and vision.   For all inquiries concerning custom-made illustrations, please send me an email.

Commissioned Artwork for Transcash – Playful Illustration for Corporate Use

commissioned artwork for transcash corporate client by monica lind

Commissioned Artwork for Transcash – Playful Illustration for Corporate Use I had the pleasure of creating a commissioned artwork for Transcash. Transcash is a prepaid debit card company founded in France in 2005. It is also connected to Mastercard.   The project was intended for multi-channel advertising. Therefore, I wanted to create a playful and dynamic illustration. I decided to reuse the red arrow from the Transcash logo as a prominent element. This added a strong connection to the brand.   The artwork was printed on high-quality fine art paper. It measured 150 cm by 100 cm. Additionally, it was mounted onto a sturdy hard support. After completion, the piece was shipped to Marseille. It was displayed at Transcash’s corporate headquarters.   Working on this commission was very rewarding. I enjoy projects where I can balance creativity with a client’s brand identity. This illustration allowed me to experiment with bold colors and graphic elements. Meanwhile, it still reflected the company’s visual identity. This project also demonstrates how illustration can enhance a brand. By incorporating logos and other brand motifs, a commissioned piece can be both visually striking and functional. As a result, the artwork works for advertising and stands alone as an original piece of art.   Overall, creating this custom illustration for a corporate client was inspiring. It shows how playful visuals can strengthen brand recognition. Additionally, it was exciting to see the final piece installed at the client’s headquarters.

Louis Vuitton Illustration Project – Fashion and Architecture in Art

louis vuitton illustration project featuring foundation building and luxury fashion

Louis Vuitton Illustration Project I had the pleasure of being approached by Louis Vuitton for an in-house creative project. It was an inspiring opportunity to work with such an iconic brand known for its craftsmanship and timeless design.   For this project, I received a selection of Louis Vuitton products to use as inspiration for my illustrations. I wanted to create something that captured both elegance and personality. Therefore, I decided to feature the Louis Vuitton Foundation building in one of the artworks. Its architecture perfectly reflects the brand’s innovative spirit, and it offered a beautiful contrast to the fashion elements I illustrated. Working on the Louis Vuitton illustration project was both exciting and creatively fulfilling. It allowed me to explore the harmony between luxury fashion and artistic expression. Additionally, it gave me the chance to experiment with textures, light, and composition while highlighting signature Louis Vuitton products.   Even though this project was created for internal use and not for public advertising, I truly enjoyed every part of the process. Each illustration was a way to celebrate the artistry and vision that define the Louis Vuitton universe. This experience reminded me how much I enjoy creating illustrations for luxury brands — especially those that value creativity, detail and storytelling.
