Facets originated during the development of the visual campaign for Atlanta Ballet‘s production of Balanchine & Peck.

Geometric facets were already central to the creative direction. My contribution was to explore them as an irregular, gem-like structure with a sense of movement and depth.

Working within that framework, I developed a number of visual interpretations. One of these investigations transformed the faceted concept into a more irregular, gem-like structure, balancing precision and movement with a sense of organic energy.

Although this particular version was not selected for the final campaign, it revealed possibilities that extended beyond its original purpose. The composition began to evolve into an independent artwork, while still retaining traces of the collaborative process from which it emerged.

The crystalline geometry reflects qualities often associated with dance itself: rhythm, balance, tension and grace. Layers of teal, aqua and green interact like shifting bodies in space. Creating thus a dialogue between structure and movement.

What interests me most about the piece is the way it changes with prolonged viewing. Certain forms appear solid before dissolving into overlapping planes. Spatial depth emerges gradually, allowing the composition to reveal itself over time.

At 150 × 150 cm, Facets possesses a strong architectural presence. It was conceived as a work that could anchor a space while remaining responsive to changing light and perspective throughout the day.
